Krasnoyarsk is our regional centre





Krasnoyarsk is a city that has turned to the future. It is among the top 5 Russian cities in the sphere of education. Significant scientific potential, rich cultural and sporting traditions are concentrated in Krasnoyarsk. The city has rich cultural traditions. Great Russian artist, Vasiliy Surikov, writer Victor Astafyev, and opera singer Dmitry Khvorostovskiy were all born, educated and worked here. There are 5 professional theatres in Krasnoyarsk. Mikhail Godenko’s State Academic Dance Company of Siberia is known to spectators of more than 50 countries worldwide.


The Yenisei river devides the city inty two parts. The ”Clean Entrance – Clean City” programme was started in 2004. In May 2004, drinking water in Krasnoyarsk was awarded a gold medal at the International ”Great Rivers - 2004” forum.


Krasnoyarsk has been recognized as one of the most ‘comfortable’ cities in Russia. The event “My courtyard” has been repeated seven times. For the last four years, about 700 courtyards in different areas of city have been reconstructed under this programme.



Krasnoyarsk is the largest industrial and cultural centre of Eastern Siberia, and the capital of Krasnoyarsk Territory, the second largest region in Russia by area. It is situated in the centre of Russia on the river Yenisei. The town was founded in 1628.
Today’s Krasnoyarsk is a modern industrial city with unique architecture, a capital of artistic and talented people of Siberia and one of the most beautiful cities in the country. According to the All-Russian census of population carried out in 2002, more than 912 000 people live in Krasnoyarsk.

Winter in our town




This fall the weather has been warm and nice. Even in the middle of November, the weather in Siberia was above 2-3 zero degrees Celsius. However it’s already snowing and there have been couple of times when the temperature has got below 10 degrees C. In December it will get even colder. This means cold days have been expected.

Our school







Our school is a Secondary school with musical education. It consists of a Primary school and a Secondary school. Primary education starts at the age of six or seven and continues for four years. The Primary school curriculum includes Russian, Maths, Reading, Drawing, PT and Music.
After four years of Primary school classes pupils go on to Secondary school, where they study a variety of subjects: Russian, Literature, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English or other foreign languages, History, Geography, Biology, PE and music.
Our school is co-educational and takes pupils of all abilities. There are different clubs in the school. The “School Forestry” and the Ecological Centre are environmental clubs for students who protect the wildlife. Many students study music, play different musical instruments and take part in concerts.

Our town Bogotol




Our native town Bogotol is situated in Krasnoyarsk Territory and is not far from Krasnoyarsk city.
The town Bogotol was founded in 1893 as a small railway station. It is situated not far from the river Chulim and is surrounded by great forests. The population of the town is about 25 thousand people. People of different nationalities live in Bogotol. The history of the town is connected with the development of the railway system and many people work there now. It is a big railway station and many trains stop here every day.
There are no big factories or plants here. It is mainly an agricultural grain-growing region. It produces a lot of vegetables, meat and milk. Many people have their own gardens where they grow vegetables and fruits. Some farmers breed cows, pigs, hens and sheep.
There are 6 secondary schools, a vocational school, technical secondary schools, hospitals, cafes, sport grounds, a stadium and the House of Culture.
Those who visit our town admire its beautiful country side and the river Chulim. People like to spend their free time on the bank of the river in summer. They make a fire, put up tents and organize picnics. Schoolchildren go on trips with their teachers in autumn and summer and learn much about the wildlife and plants.
There are many talented people our town: writers, poets, painters, teachers and doctors, workers. Our school teacher of Physics L. Antonov is also a writer and wrote some books connected with the history of the town.
It has become a tradition to celebrate the Day of the town in August. It is celebrated with concerts, sport competitions, exhibitions. From year to year our town becomes more beautiful and comfortable.

We live in Siberia




We live in Russia in Krasnoyarsk Region. Our region is situated in the middle of Siberia. Some people ask: What is Siberia? Is it a country? Siberia is an eastern part of Russia up to the Ural Mountains.

Krasnoyarsk region is the largest region in our country. The main river of the region is the Yenisey. There are many lakes which are very beautiful.

The climate is strongly continental with large temperature variations during the year. For the central and southern regions where most of the population lives, long winters and short, hot summers are characteristic. The territory of Krasnoyarsk region experiences conditions of three climate belts: Arctic, Subarctic, and moderate.

The average temperature in January is −36 °C (−33 °F) in the north and −18 °C (−0 °F) in the south. The average temperature in July is 10 °C (50 °F) in the north and 20 °C (68 °F) in the south. Snow covers the central regions from early November until late March.
